A man has died after being pulled from the sea at Aberavon beach in Port Talbot, Wales, on Wednesday afternoon, which was the hottest day of the year. Emergency services, including coastguard crews, an air ambulance, and paramedics, rushed to the scene following a medical emergency in the water.

Police and paramedics were called to the beach around midday on June 25, 2026. The man was treated at the scene but was pronounced dead shortly after. The exact nature of the medical emergency has not been disclosed, but authorities have stated that there were no suspicious circumstances.
South Wales Police confirmed the incident and said that next of kin have been informed. A spokesperson said: "We were called to Aberavon beach at approximately 12:15pm following reports of a man in difficulty in the water. Despite the efforts of emergency services, the man sadly died at the scene."

The incident occurred on what was recorded as the hottest day of 2026 in Wales, with temperatures reaching 31°C (87.8°F) in some areas. The warm weather drew large crowds to beaches across the country, including Aberavon.
