A man has been taken to hospital after a standoff on the roof of a Tesco supermarket in West Derby. Emergency services were called to the scene early on Thursday morning, June 11, following reports of a man on the roof of the store.
Police Response
Merseyside Police said they were called at around 5.25am to Deysbrook Lane over concerns for the safety of a man. Officers quickly cordoned off the area, and a police negotiator was deployed to speak with the individual. Photos from the scene showed police presence on Deysbrook Lane as the situation unfolded.
Resolution
Shortly after 9.30am, police stood down the scene, and by around 10am, the force confirmed that the man had come down from the Tesco roof. The man has been detained under the Mental Health Act and will be taken to hospital for assessment and care. The incident is now concluded.
