A man has been arrested after a pedestrian was struck by a car in Golders Green, north-west London, leaving the victim in a critical condition. The incident occurred on Golders Green Road shortly after 8.20pm on Wednesday evening, prompting an immediate response from emergency services.
Victim and Arrest Details
The pedestrian, a 41-year-old Iranian national, sustained life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital in a critical condition. A 39-year-old Iraqi national was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, serious injury by dangerous driving, and failing to provide a drug sample. He is currently in police custody.
Investigation Underway
The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that the incident is not being treated as terrorism-related. The Serious Collision Investigation Unit is leading the inquiry. Authorities have urged the public not to share graphic footage of the incident circulating on social media, citing the need to protect the integrity of the investigation and out of respect for those involved.
