A man has been arrested after police were called to reports of threats involving a firearm in the Trostre area of Llanelli, Carmarthenshire. Members of the public were temporarily asked to shelter inside nearby supermarkets while officers dealt with the incident.
Police response and public safety measures
Officers were deployed to the area on Friday, September 25, after the report came in at around 3.45pm. Extensive inquiries and searches were carried out to locate the suspect, and as a precaution, shoppers were asked to remain inside supermarkets while the search was ongoing.
A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesman said: "Officers have been dealing with an incident in which a man was reported to have made threats involving a firearm at about 3.45pm this afternoon."
Arrest and conclusion of the incident
The man, aged 38, was located and the incident was brought to a safe conclusion with nobody injured. He has been arrested on suspicion of sending communication threatening death or serious harm and remains in police custody.
The spokesman added: "We would like to thank members of the public and local businesses for their patience and cooperation while officers dealt with the incident."
