Jay Blades, the host of BBC series 'The Repair Shop', has been cleared of two rape charges, according to West Mercia Police. The 55-year-old television personality was originally charged in 2025 and was due to appear in court on 13 August 2025.
In a statement, a police spokesperson confirmed that the charges have been dropped, stating: 'Jason Blades, 55, of Claverley in Shropshire, has been cleared of two counts of rape. No further action will be taken.'
The rape allegations followed a separate charge against Blades relating to controlling and coercive behaviour, which he has denied. He is currently awaiting trial on those allegations and was scheduled to appear at Worcester Crown Court for a pre-trial review.
Blades rose to fame after first appearing on 'The Repair Shop' in 2017. The show, produced by Warner Bros. Discovery-owned Ricochet, features experts restoring treasured possessions. Blades has not appeared on the show since last year.
He has also appeared on 'Celebrity MasterChef' and 'The Great Celebrity Bake Off', and in 2020 launched production company Hungry Jay Media.
