ICE Director Todd Lyons reported that the man, identified as a suspected gang member and an undocumented immigrant from El Salvador, was wanted for questioning in connection with a homicide. As officers approached his car, the individual weaponized his vehicle in an effort to run over an agent.
"Following their training, our officers fired defensive shots to protect themselves, their fellow agents, and the public," Lyons stated. The man was subsequently transported to a hospital for treatment, and the FBI responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.
