Cleveland Police have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a man's body in Stockton, with five teenagers now in custody.
Police Called to Hardwick Scene
Officers were called to Egglescliffe Close in the Hardwick area of Stockton at around 6:50pm on Saturday, 10 January 2026. Upon arrival, they found a 49-year-old man deceased at the scene. The circumstances surrounding his death are now the subject of a major police probe.
Five Teenagers Arrested Overnight
In a significant development, five teenagers were arrested overnight on suspicion of murder. Those detained include a 19-year-old man, two 18-year-old men, and two 17-year-old boys. All five have been taken into police custody for questioning, as confirmed by reports from TeessideLive.
Scene Remains Sealed for Investigation
A local witness described an ongoing police presence at the location into Sunday morning. Four police cars were visible, with a section near a car wash and surrounding bushes cordoned off with tape. The police are understood to have maintained a presence at the scene since approximately 8:00pm on Sunday night as forensic examinations continue.
