A far-right activist who creates “rage baiting” videos of innocent black men to stir up racial tensions has been unmasked after one of his targets turned the tables on him.
The actions of the activist, known as Daffy, who wears a face mask at protests around Scotland, went viral on X after far-right leader Tommy Robinson shared footage of him filming and harassing two young men on a street in Perth.
Now Daffy’s unmasked face has been revealed after one of the subjects of his videos filmed him. Daffy has been present at anti-immigration demos around Scotland – always with a mask on. He was also one of the most prominent masked men at Glasgow Green for a Unite the Clans protest – supposedly dedicated to protecting women and children – that turned into a riot.
Anti-racism groups expose activist
Anti-racism campaigners have said Daffy’s rage-baiting video, which was shared on X by Robinson, real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, is part of a chilling escalation in tactics. The Stand Up to Racism (SUTR) group unmasked the mystery man on Facebook.
They posted: “This is ‘Daffy’, unmasked! He’s a far-right agitator, bully and rage baiter who harassed and antagonised two young refugee men this weekend in Perth. Their ‘crime’ was being brown in public. Daffy’s vile rage bait was shared by chief Nazi grifter Tommy Robinson who invited a vile racist pile-on, threatening the safety of the young men who dared to challenge Daffy’s racism.”
Daffy is accused of joining far-right protesters from the “Scottish Freedom Patriots” in Falkirk, where other masked figures shouted abuse through a megaphone. It is believed the agitator, from Glasgow, set up the Perth Safeguarding and Awareness group last month after forming alliances with far-right associates from the city.
Claims and denials
SUTR claims Daffy was a participant at the sinister “Alba Defensor” silent, paramilitary style protests, which have been promoted by Restore UK member and blogger Craig Houston and attended by his best pal Sandy Chugg, a notorious football thug. He denies that claim.
SUTR added: “The far-right dream of building up a racist street movement to wield violence against migrants, refugees and any one who opposes them. This has been facilitated by the fearmongering and mainstreaming of racist ideas by far-right parties like Reform UK who seek to scapegoat the most vulnerable in our society for the problems caused by the interests of the richest people who run this country.”
The rage-baiting trend involves filming black or other ethnic minority people in public, often provoking anger from those being harassed.
Online activity and reaction
The two young men in the Perth video have not been accused of any wrongdoing or convicted of any crimes. On X, Daffy has been a supporter of the Scottish Citizens Army, which claimed it was going to bring Glasgow to a standstill with a series of road blocks.
Among other material posted on X by Daffy, under the handle “weegie life”, is a reposted photo of a masked man holding a rifle and the caption “for every passing day I grow more sure of this”. Daffy simply agrees, saying “aye”.
Retweeting the rage-bait video, Robinson made calls to “round up” immigrants and deport them. He said: “Invaders in Scotland doing what they do across all of Europe, try and tell the natives not to film. What have they got to hide? Who do they think they are? Round them up and remove.”
On the rage bait video, Daffy can be seen trying to attract the young men’s attention after they walk past him. He then follows them and they turn to ask him why he is filming them. He tells them: “You confronted me.” He later says: “Do you think I’m scared of you two f***ing d**ks? Walk away. F*** off. F***ing s********. Welcome to Scotland.” When pressed by the young men why he was filming them, he said: “I don’t need permission. This is Scotland.”
Later, on Facebook, Daffy claimed that he’d toned down his behaviour with the men in case he was arrested. He posted: “Had to keep my cool with this one. I’m no doing a weekender for these parasites, lol.”
After SUTR posted a series of claims about Daffy, he responded on X. Of the rage-bait video, he states: “Nothing I said in that clip was about race. They have tried to turn a public argument into a racism story because that suits their script. White, brown or black, if you walk past and start on me, you get the same answer.” He denied being part of the Scottish Citizens Army or Alba Defensor, adding: “I do not know how they think I find the time. If any of those groups are actually recruiting, they are welcome to message me.”
The Daily Record has offered Daffy the chance to comment.
