Family tribute to bus driver shot dead in Clapham

The family of a bus driver who died in a shooting in south London has paid tribute to the 25-year-old, describing him as an “amazing young man” full of “love, kindness, and an enthusiasm for life”.

Auguste-Marie Bile-aka Amoa died just before 10pm on Monday, August 10, on Willington Road in Clapham, in what the Metropolitan Police said was a shooting incident outside a local pub. A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder after presenting himself at a hospital following the incident, but he was later discharged and released with no further action.

Family statement

In a statement issued through the police, the family said: “We are devastated by the horrific murder of Bile-aka. He was an amazing young man full of love, kindness, and an enthusiasm for life. Bile-aka touched so many hearts, and the pain of losing him is impossible to put into words. It is difficult to imagine a world without his smile, his presence, and the joy he brought to those around him.”

The family added: “Family, friends, and colleagues are heartbroken, and all we want now is justice for him. Please stand with us and help us honour Bile-aka by making sure his life is remembered and that justice is served.”

Police appeal

No further arrests have been made in connection with the death, and urgent enquiries are ongoing. Detective Chief Inspector Claire Guiver said the service was extending an appeal to members of the public who may have been in the area at the time.

She said: “Our thoughts remain with Bile-aka’s family as they continue to come to terms with this tragic incident. We are extending our appeal to members of the public, and anyone in the area around the time of the shooting to please come forward. Any piece of information you have could prove vital in our investigation.”

Guiver also urged anyone with CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage to come forward, saying: “No matter how big or small, your information could be crucial in our investigation.”
