Brian William Bodenham, an 80-year-old man from Margam, has died following a four-vehicle crash on the A48 Margam Road, South Wales Police have confirmed. His family has issued a heartfelt tribute, remembering him as a beloved brother, husband, dad, and grandad.
Details of the Crash
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 12pm on May 6. The collision involved four vehicles: a Vauxhall Agila, Citroen Picasso, Rover 45, and an MG3. The driver of the Vauxhall Agila, later identified as Mr. Bodenham, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He passed away nearly two weeks later on May 18, 2026.
Family Tribute
Mr. Bodenham's family released a statement: “Brian peacefully passed away on May 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Brian the dearly beloved husband of the late Catherine. Much-loved Dad of Gary and Darren, dear father-in-law of Amanda and Joanne, cherished grandfather of Joseph, Hollie, Olivia, and a loving brother of Valerie. Brian will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. We would ask for privacy at this time, while we try to deal with our loss, and would ask people not to speculate about the accident while the investigation is ongoing.”
Police Investigation
A South Wales Police spokesman said: “The serious collision investigation unit are appealing for any witnesses who saw the collision, anyone with any dashcam footage, or anyone who saw the manner in which the cars were being driven before the collision to contact them on 101 quoting reference 2600140685.
