Dashcam Shows Driver Jump to Death After 100mph Police Chase

West Memphis police have released dashcam footage showing the moment a driver jumped to his death from a bridge after a high-speed chase. Darin Woodward, 35, died after leaping 40-50 feet from the I-55 bridge following a pursuit that reached 100mph.

The incident began when officers responded to a loitering complaint. Woodward attempted to flee in his Nissan, nearly hitting a trooper. The chase ended when police used a PIT manoeuvre, causing the car to hit a barrier.

Dashcam footage shows Woodward exiting the passenger side and jumping over the bridge barrier. He was taken to hospital but later died. The passenger, Ella Comfort, was detained.

Comfort later alleged on social media that police had killed Woodward. West Memphis Police denied the claims, calling them 'outlandish' and releasing the footage to counter the allegations.

In a statement, police said: 'At a time when the family should be grieving, they were bombarded with lies.' The department added that it would not tolerate false accusations.
