A road in Wythenshawe was cordoned off after an electric bike caught fire at a residential property, resulting in one person being taken to hospital. The incident occurred on Greenwood Road at approximately 7:45 AM on June 12.

Emergency Response

Three fire engines from Withington and Wythenshawe fire stations were dispatched to the scene, alongside an ambulance from the North West Ambulance Service. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels to extinguish the blaze, which involved an electric bike.

Casualty

One individual was assessed at the scene for smoke inhalation by paramedics before being transported to hospital for further medical attention. The North West Ambulance Service confirmed the hospitalisation.

A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson stated: 'At around 7:45 AM this morning (Friday, June 12), three fire engines from Withington and Wythenshawe fire stations attended a house fire involving an electric bike on Greenwood Road, Manchester. Crews wearing breathing apparatus arrived quickly and used two hose reels to extinguish the blaze. One person was assessed by North West Ambulance Service colleagues for smoke inhalation. Crews departed after roughly two and a half hours in attendance.'

Road Closure

A cordon was established, and part of Greenwood Road was closed off while firefighters worked at the scene. The road has since been reopened.
