At least 50 students are feared trapped after a multi-storey building collapsed near Satya Niketan in southwest Delhi on Sunday, September 6. Emergency services were deployed to the scene following the collapse, which happened near Delhi University's South Campus.
Emergency response and timeline
The Delhi Fire Service said to have first received news of the incident at 1.33pm local time. A call regarding the incident was received at South Campus police station at around 1.34pm, reporting the collapse of a building near Nanakpura Gurdwara.
Police officers, several fire crews and paramedics are among the emergency services dispatched to the scene.
Rescue efforts underway
Rescuers are now working against time to locate and save people who were in the building when it came down. Several people, including students, are feared to have remained trapped under rubble.
