A motorcyclist who died in a road accident in Manchester may have been murdered, police have said. Carl Dawson, 43, was killed while riding a Lexmoto XTR motorcycle in Moston on September 7. The crash occurred before 11.45pm.
Initially treated as a serious collision, the investigation has now uncovered evidence of foul play. Police believe the father of four was being chased by a white car at the time, with footage showing the vehicle following him closely. A stolen car suspected to be involved has been recovered.
Detective Chief Inspector Alicia Smith said: 'Lines of enquiry have now led us to believe this man was being chased by a white vehicle at the time. Our thoughts remain with the man’s family who are understandably distraught.'
Mr Dawson's family paid tribute to him, describing him as a 'much loved son, father, brother, uncle that would do anything for anybody'. His brother-in-law Paul Taylor said he was 'the most funny, bubbly and outgoing person I have met'. His daughter Keira Burns, 15, said she would miss him taking her everywhere on his bike.
Police are appealing for information, particularly from anyone who saw the white vehicle behind the motorcycle or has dashcam footage. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
