CCTV released after Woolwich train attack phone theft attempt

British Transport Police have released CCTV images of three people they want to speak to after a man was attacked on a train at Woolwich Dockyard station in southeast London. The assault followed an alleged attempt to steal his phone.

Attack after attempted phone theft

Shortly before 5.30pm on Thursday, July 30, a man at the station was approached by a woman who attempted to steal his phone. He then boarded a train and was followed by the same woman and two other people, according to British Transport Police.

The situation turned violent when the victim was kicked and punched while the group again tried to take his phone. They were unsuccessful.

Appeal for information

Police have now released CCTV images of three individuals they would like to identify. Detectives believe these people may have information that could assist the investigation.
