Merseyside Police has released CCTV footage following an unprovoked attack outside the Spanish Caravan bar in Liverpool city centre earlier this year. The incident occurred around midnight on Saturday, April 11, when a 19-year-old man was punched near the venue on Slater Street.
Victim Suffered Serious Facial Injuries
The victim was taken to hospital with serious facial injuries that required surgery. The suspect fled the scene immediately after the assault. Police launched an investigation, which has been ongoing since the incident. Last month, images of a man believed to have information about the attack were released. Today, Thursday, June 11, the force issued CCTV footage of the same individual.
Police Appeal for Information
Detective Inspector Tony Meakins said: “This was a dangerous and reckless attack which left the victim seriously injured and requiring extensive hospital treatment to his face. This was an unprovoked incident which has shocked the community, and such violence will never be tolerated on the streets of Merseyside.
“Our enquiries are ongoing, and we are determined to find the person responsible. This incident took place at a time when it was still busy, so if you were in the vicinity around midnight and witnessed the assault, please contact us. It was also the day when the Liverpool v Fulham football game was playing at Anfield, so we are looking at all lines of enquiry to find the suspect.
“I am appealing to the man featured in the CCTV footage, or anyone who recognises him, to come forward. We believe he could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.”
