A 12-year-old British girl who vanished for days on a family holiday to Japan has been found safe, local police have said.

Disappearance in Tokyo

Carmelita Lakdesha Paul landed in Tokyo for a holiday with her parents and older brother on July 21. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the 12-year-old disappeared after leaving her family's rental accommodation in Tokyo's Kamata district alone early on the morning of August 13.

Recovery

She was found safe days later, with local police confirming the news. Further details about her whereabouts during the time she was missing have not been disclosed.
