A British man has been arrested after causing chaos on a Ryanair flight from Luton to Alicante, forcing an emergency landing in France. The man, identified as Daniel Ashley-Laws, a builder and father, was seen in a viral video being dragged off the plane by French police after allegedly trying to open an emergency door.
The incident occurred on Friday, September 26, when the flight descended into disorder. According to a police source, Ashley-Laws was sitting next to an emergency exit and attempted to open it, terrifying other passengers. The pilot had no choice but to land the plane in Toulouse, where a unit of the Air Transport Gendarmerie Company was waiting.
Ashley-Laws and his son were among five men removed from the flight. Footage shows him refusing to comply with officers, saying 'No, no, no, no - no f***ing way,' before climbing onto a seat and fighting with police. He was eventually grabbed by the neck and escorted off the plane, protesting, 'I'm coming, you f***'.
Despite being taken into custody, images later emerged on social media showing Ashley-Laws in Benidorm, wearing a Hawaiian shirt and laughing as friends mimicked the arrest by pulling his ear. A caption read: 'Benni final boss - some French lads lol madness.'
A police source stated that Ashley-Laws' blood alcohol level was so high that it took hours before he could be interviewed. A passenger noted that the group could barely stand before departure, and tensions escalated when most of them were removed. The flight eventually left Toulouse at 10.15pm.
