A third person has been arrested after an 11-year-old boy was shot in east London, sustaining potentially life-changing injuries. The incident occurred at a house in Upminster on Friday, where the boy's father, in his 40s, also suffered cuts to his head.
A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and remains in custody, the Metropolitan Police said. Two others previously arrested—a 16-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man—have been released; the teenager has been bailed until late May, while the man faces no further action.
Police said the owner of the property in Kerry Drive opened the front door to someone claiming to be a delivery driver, who then forced their way in along with others. It remains unclear whether the father's injuries were caused by a gunshot or a knife.
Detective Inspector Matt Webb described it as a 'nightmarish attack on the victims' own doorstep' and vowed to 'work tirelessly to identify and pursue offenders'.
