A 13-year-old boy is fighting for his life in hospital after being stabbed on a seafront in East Sussex. Emergency services were called to the scene in Eastbourne shortly after 5 pm on Sunday, September 20, following reports of a serious assault near the waterfront.
Police hunt for youths seen fleeing
Sussex Police confirmed they responded to the incident at Grand Parade, near the junctions of Elms Avenue and Cavendish Place. Once there, officers found the boy with injuries consistent with a stabbing. He was taken to hospital in a serious condition.
A group of young people was seen leaving the scene after the alleged attack. Detectives are working to locate the youths, who fled the area.
Increased police presence and appeal for witnesses
A spokesperson for Sussex Police said there will be an increased police presence in the area while enquiries are completed and to provide reassurance to the local community.
Witnesses or anyone with information, such as CCTV, mobile phone, or dashcam footage, is asked to come forward. The force has urged anyone with details to report it to Sussex Police online or on 101, quoting serial 1096 of 20.09.
