A body has been recovered from Long Loch in Angus following a multi-agency search for a missing swimmer. The alarm was raised around 8pm on Sunday evening when the swimmer was reported missing at the loch near Muirhead, approximately 10 miles from Dundee.
Emergency Response
Emergency services, including Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, responded to the scene. A Coastguard helicopter was also deployed to assist in the search. Officers and personnel conducted a desperate hunt to locate the man.
Sadly, a man's body was found in the water approximately one hour after the search was launched. The individual was then pulled from the loch.
Police Statement
Police have stated that they do not believe the death to be suspicious. A Police Scotland spokesperson told The Courier: "Around 9pm on Sunday the body of a man was recovered from the water in Long Loch near Muirhead, following a multi-agency search for a missing swimmer. The death is not being treated as suspicious. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course."
The tragedy will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal as standard procedure.
