A BMW was deliberately set on fire in Wallasey, prompting an arson investigation by Merseyside Police and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service. The incident occurred on Monday, May 4, at approximately 10:15 PM on Brighton Street. Officers were called to reports of a blue BMW ablaze. A joint investigation revealed the fire was started using an accelerant. The suspect is believed to have fled the scene along Harrowby Road.
Police appeal for witnesses
Detective Inspector Phil Ryan stated: “To set a vehicle alight is reckless in the extreme and put anyone in the vicinity at serious risk. We are determined to find the person responsible and enquiries are ongoing.” He urged residents in the area, particularly those on Brighton Street and Harrowby Road, to check any devices for footage or sightings. Police also believe a patrol can used in the offence may have been discarded locally.
