A significant fire has erupted at a Jewish supermarket in Golders Green, prompting a response from approximately 70 firefighters. The blaze is believed to have started at the rear of Kosher Kingdom, a large grocery store located in northwest London.
Firefighting Response
Ten fire engines have been dispatched to the scene, along with specialist equipment including a 32-metre turntable ladder. Crews from Finchley, Willesden, West Hampstead, and other nearby fire stations are actively working to contain the flames. The London Fire Brigade reported receiving 33 calls about the incident, with the first alert coming in at 6:47 am on Wednesday.
Public Safety Advice
Local residents are being advised to keep their doors and windows closed due to the substantial smoke produced by the fire. The brigade stated: 'Firefighters are currently responding to a fire on Golders Green Road in Golders Green. The fire has occurred by a building which is three storeys, with a shop on the ground floor and premises above. The fire is producing a significant amount of smoke and we're advising people in the area to keep their windows and doors shut at this time.'
Road Closures and Disruption
Several road closures are in place, particularly on Golders Green Road near the junction with Beverley Gardens. Authorities are urging the public to avoid the area while firefighters work to extinguish the fire. The cause of the blaze remains unknown at this stage.
