An investigation has been launched after a woman was tragically found dead near an alley in south Manchester. Police were called to the scene off Yew Tree Road in Withington on Sunday, June 21, following a report of a concern for welfare.
Police Response and Scene
Officers arrived at approximately 3:40pm and discovered a woman in her 40s who was pronounced dead at the scene. A blue evidence tent was erected, and the alley near Hazelbank Avenue was cordoned off throughout the day. Witnesses reported seeing a heavy police presence in the area.
No Suspicious Circumstances
Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding her death. A force spokesperson stated: "We responded to an area close to Yew Tree Road, Manchester, at around 3:40pm on Sunday 21 June following reports of a concern for welfare. Emergency services attended and one woman aged her 40s was located at the scene, where she was sadly pronounced dead. There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances, and enquiries are ongoing at this time."
