A 19-year-old man has been arrested after seven people were injured in a suspected knife attack at a vocational school in Ostroleka, Poland, police have said.

The suspect was detained after emergency crews responded to Vocational School Complex No. 4 in Ostroleka, according to police. The incident occurred shortly before midday on October 7, local media reported.
The city, with a population of approximately 51,000, sits roughly 120km north of Warsaw, Poland's capital.
Police statement and ongoing investigation
A spokesperson for local police confirmed: "Police officers from Ostrołęka, near the municipal beach, detained a 19-year-old man suspected of attacking people with a sharp tool near and on the premises of a school in Ostrołęka."
"According to preliminary information, seven people may have been injured. Officers at the scene are carrying out procedures and determining the course of events," the spokesperson added.
Mayor's response
Paweł Niewiadomsk, Ostroleka's mayor, stated: "We are thinking of the victims, their families, students, teachers, and everyone else affected by this difficult incident today. We wish the injured a speedy recovery, and the entire school community strength and peace."
Police officers, firefighters and public prosecutors continue their presence at the location, Polish media reports. The extent of injuries to the seven victims remains uncertain at this stage.
