A Newport store has been ordered to close for three months after a significant amount of counterfeit tobacco and cigarettes was discovered on the premises.

Details of the Closure

Officers from Trading Standards and Gwent Police's Newport central neighbourhood team conducted a raid at Four Seasons Mini Market on Commercial Street. During the operation, they uncovered a 'considerable amount' of counterfeit tobacco and cigarettes.

Following the discovery, a court granted a closure notice under section 80 of the Anti-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014. The order prohibits the shop from opening until September 9, 2026.

Police Statement

Gwent Police confirmed the closure, stating that the action was taken to address the illegal sale of counterfeit goods. The force emphasised the importance of such operations in protecting local communities and legitimate businesses.

Four Seasons Mini Market will remain shut for the three-month period, with the closure order in full effect.
