Masked Man Who Threatened Andrew Researched Princess Kate

A masked man accused of threatening Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor also conducted online searches related to the Princess of Wales and her family, according to reports. Investigators found a substantial number of internet searches concerning firearms, knives, and explosives on his device. Additionally, searches involving other royals, including Kate and her daughter Princess Charlotte, 11, were discovered.

Details of the Incident

Alex Jenkinson, 39, is accused of confronting the disgraced former prince near Marsh Farm on May 6, allegedly forcing him to flee alongside the late Queen's corgis. After his arrest on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, authorities seized and examined his mobile phone.

Arrest and Bail Conditions

Jenkinson was initially held under the Mental Health Act but later discharged. He was released on strict bail conditions, prohibiting contact with Mountbatten-Windsor and barring him from entering Norfolk or being within 500 metres of Sandringham Estate, Buckingham Palace, Balmoral Castle, Windsor Castle, and Highgrove.

Stalking Protection Order

Suffolk Constabulary, responsible for Jenkinson's area, sought a civil Stalking Protection Order (SPO). James Farrell, representing the constabulary, expressed concern that without close monitoring, Jenkinson could become fixated on more weapons and killing methods, leading to more serious consequences. Farrell stated the SPO was necessary to protect Mountbatten-Windsor from escalating risk, citing a pattern of targeted and escalating behaviour associated with stalking. He added that Jenkinson displays grievance and fixation, and bail conditions alone are insufficient to mitigate the risk.

Upcoming Hearing

A full hearing in the case is scheduled for August.
