A fourth man has been arrested in connection with the death of Billy Watson, a 35-year-old father from Armadale, as his family issued a desperate plea for information. Emergency services were called to Harestanes Road in Armadale at around 11.50am on Saturday, September 12, where Mr Watson was found seriously injured. Police later confirmed his death was being treated as murder.
Post-mortem reveals fatal gunshot injuries
A post-mortem examination found that Mr Watson suffered fatal injuries consistent with being shot by a firearm. His family have paid tribute to the “deeply loved” dad and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
In a statement released by Police Scotland, they said: “Billy was a deeply loved son, dad, brother, uncle and friend. We are all desperate to find out any information about this horrific incident.”
Fourth arrest brings total to four
Earlier on Tuesday, a 20-year-old man was arrested in connection with the death, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to four. Police said enquiries into the tragic incident are ongoing.
Three men already charged with murder
Three men have already appeared in court charged with murder and attempting to defeat the ends of justice. Frank McCarthy, 57, of Bathgate, appeared at Livingston Sheriff Court on Friday, September 18, before Corrie McQueen, 29, and Martin Patterson, 44, both of Armadale, appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, September 21.
Images taken from the scene of Billy's death showed a significant police presence in the area. The housing estate was locked down by officers as forensic teams scoured the neighbourhood.
