Three Australian men are set to be charged with premeditated murder over the fatal shooting of a Melbourne man in a Bali villa, an offence that carries the death penalty in Indonesia.
Zivan Radmanovic, 32, was killed in the bathroom of Villa Casa Santisya near Munggu Beach in June. His partner Jazmyn reportedly hid under a blanket during the attack, while another Melbourne man, Sanar Ghanim, 34, survived. Police found 17 bullet casings and two intact bullets at the scene.
The three accused – Darcy Jenson, 27, Paea-I-Middlemore Tupou, 27, and Coskun Mevlut, 22 – were arrested and forced to re-enact the shooting in July. One was detained at Jakarta airport, while the other two were returned via Interpol coordination.
Public prosecutors in Bali confirmed on Wednesday that the men are suspected of premeditated murder under article 340 of Indonesia's criminal code, which carries a maximum penalty of capital punishment, followed by life imprisonment. They also face charges of attempted premeditated murder against Ghanim.
Badung police chief M. Arief Batubara said the case files have been declared legally sufficient for prosecution. “Today, we completed the second phase of the process. Both the suspects and the evidence have been handed over to the prosecutors,” he told reporters.
The prosecutor's office did not specify when court proceedings would begin or the motive for the alleged murder. A lawyer for Jenson did not respond to queries.
