Two women have been arrested by Warwickshire Police following an incident of racial abuse during a Sky News interview in Nuneaton. The interview, which was being conducted with a local businessman about community tensions regarding asylum seekers, was disrupted by passers-by who shouted racial slurs.
Police confirmed that the suspects, both from Nuneaton, were arrested on Wednesday as part of an investigation into the interaction, which was widely shared on social media. The footage showed members of the public being subjected to racial abuse, with one person reportedly being pushed.
A 30-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence, while a 43-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence and racially aggravated common assault. Both remain in custody for questioning.
