BBC Traitors Star Sam Little Scammed Out of £40,000
Traitors Star Sam Little Loses £40,000 in Scam

Sam Little, a contestant from the fourth series of the BBC show The Traitors, has issued an emotional plea to his followers after losing £40,000 in a devastating scam. The Account Manager from North Yorkshire took to Instagram to share his harrowing experience, describing it as a 'gut-wrenching' ordeal that has had a profound impact on his family.

How the Scam Unfolded

In a detailed video, Sam explained that the fraud began with a text message from what appeared to be a verified banking number. The message warned of an attempted login to his cryptocurrency account. After receiving a few such alerts over three days, he called the provided UK number, which connected him to highly convincing fraudsters.

'They were very helpful and knowledgeable,' Sam recalled. The scammers created a fake account that mirrored his own, without requiring passwords or codes. They used fear tactics, urging him to act quickly to secure his funds. One by one, they emptied his various investments, claiming it was for an insurance case.

The Moment of Realization

Sam grew suspicious after his wife, Alex, googled the phone number and discovered it was flagged as a phishing scam. 'My heart fell through the floor,' he said. By then, the scammers had already drained his accounts and hung up. 'This was £40,000. It was our life savings, a baby fund. We worked years to build it up, and it's gone in an instant.'

A Call for Help and Awareness

The TV star reported the crime to the police, who have launched an investigation. He appealed to his followers for advice on recovering the funds, saying, 'If anyone knows other ways to recoup some of this, please let me know. I'm exhausting every avenue.' Sam emphasized that he shared his story to help others, despite the shame and embarrassment. 'It's fine to talk about it because it's so common,' he added.

Support from Fellow Cast Members

Sam's fellow Traitors cast members quickly rallied behind him. Amanda Collier expressed her heartbreak, while Stephen Libby called the situation 'devastating' and praised Sam for using his ordeal to help others. Roxy Wilson commended his bravery, and Jade Scott described the incident as 'utterly gut wrenching.'

Sam hopes his video will raise awareness and prevent others from falling victim to similar scams. 'The more I thought about it, the more selfish it seemed not to share this,' he concluded.
