A 17-year-old schoolboy was fatally stabbed by a friend after a failed attempt to rob a drug dealer, a court has heard. Yousef Makki, a scholarship student at Manchester Grammar School, died from a single stab wound to the heart in Hale Barns, Trafford, on 2 March.
The prosecution told Manchester Crown Court that Makki and two other teenagers, referred to as Boy A and Boy B, had planned to rob a dealer of £45 worth of cannabis. The deal went wrong when the dealer arrived with two companions, and Boy A was assaulted after trying to force the dealer out of his car. Makki and Boy B fled on bicycles, leaving Boy A behind.
Later, the group returned to retrieve Boy A's bicycle, which had been thrown over a hedge. During an altercation, Boy A stabbed Makki in the chest. Makki collapsed against a tree and died despite efforts by a local heart surgeon to save him.
Boy A denies murder and conspiracy to rob, but admits perverting the course of justice and possession of a flick knife. Boy B denies conspiracy to rob and perverting the course of justice, but admits possession of a flick knife. The trial continues.
