Police in Bolton are searching for a man who ran off after officers discovered 76 nitrous oxide canisters inside a car on Blackburn Road. The vehicle was seized by Greater Manchester Police (GMP) following reports of drug dealing in the area.
Patrol Leads to Discovery
Officers from the Bolton North Neighbourhood Team were patrolling Blackburn Road after receiving reports of drugs being sold. They observed a man going through the boot of a car. When the man saw the police, he quickly fled on foot, dropping nitrous oxide canisters as he ran.
Upon searching the vehicle, officers found 76 canisters of nitrous oxide, along with black carrier bags and small bags of balloons. The car was seized, and investigations are ongoing to identify the suspect.
Police Appeal for Information
A GMP Bolton spokesperson said: "Officers from the Bolton North Neighbourhood Team have seized a car this evening that was found to have drugs inside. Officers patrolling the Blackburn Road area, following reports of drugs being sold in the area, observed someone going through the boot of this car. On seeing the police, the man ran off and dropped some nitrous oxide canisters. Officers searched the vehicle and found 76 cannisters of nitrous oxide, along with black carrier bags and small bags of balloons."
The spokesperson added: "The drugs have been seized, as well as the car. Enquiries are ongoing to identify the man who ran off. If you have information about drug supply in your area, you can report this, anonymously, to the independent charity, CrimeStoppers, on 0800 555 111 or via their website."
