A 39-year-old man is receiving medical treatment following an assault involving a bladed weapon at a property on Sedgemoor Road in Eston. Cleveland Police confirmed the attack and said no arrests have been made at this stage, though enquiries remain ongoing.
Armed officers and air ambulance called to scene
Armed officers were spotted outside the property shortly after midday on Thursday, August 27. Pictures from the scene appear to show a smashed-in door with a crime scene investigation van parked close by. It has been confirmed that the air ambulance landed nearby but was stood down upon arrival.
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to a person injured in the Normanby area of Middlesbrough at 12 noon on August 26. We dispatched a clinical team leader and an ambulance crew who took one patient to hospital. We called on Great North Air Ambulance for support at the scene."
Air ambulance team stood down on arrival
The Great North Air Ambulance Service's critical care team was called out at 12.09pm to attend the incident. A spokesperson added: "We had a paramedic and doctor on board our aircraft and they arrived on scene at 12.17pm. The team were stood down on arrival as they were no longer required and returned back to base."
Police continue to investigate the attack and officers remain at the scene. Video footage circulating on social media appears to show armed officers surrounding a property on Sedgemoor Road.
