More than 80,000 LED toys and shot glasses have been recalled in the US after regulators found that children could easily access and swallow the small button cell batteries inside. The recall, announced by importer ABC Trading, covers over 84,700 products including three toy designs and a set of LED shot glasses.
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission identified that the battery compartments in the products did not properly secure the batteries, posing a serious risk. According to the recall notice, swallowed button cell batteries can cause severe internal burns and even death.
The recalled toys include a pink plastic headband with polka dots (model 6300RP), a dinosaur toy (model 8266), and a bird toy (model ZH-998-23). The headband features a bow that can be removed, exposing the battery compartment. The animal toys have battery compartments on their bases that can be easily opened.
Also recalled are LED light-up shot glasses, sold individually and in packs of 24. They have buttons on the bottom that activate lights, but the battery compartments are easily accessible. The shot glasses were sold at gift stores across the US between March 2024 and October 2025, priced between $6 and $10.
No injuries have been reported. Consumers are urged to stop using the products immediately and contact ABC Trading for a refund by emailing a photo of the items placed in the trash to recallabc@gmail.com.
