Jasveen Sangha, known as the ‘Ketamine Queen’, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for her role in the death of Friends actor Matthew Perry. Sangha pleaded guilty last year to selling Perry a fatal dose of ketamine, which caused his death in October 2023 at age 54.
Sangha, 42, admitted to providing Perry with around 50 vials of ketamine before his death. She also confessed to distributing drugs from her North Hollywood home since 2019, including ketamine and methamphetamine. Prosecutors highlighted that she continued dealing after learning of the deaths of Perry and another individual, Cody McLaury, who died in 2019 shortly after purchasing drugs from her.
In court, Sangha expressed shame, saying: “These were not mistakes. They were horrible decisions.” Her defence argued she had no criminal history and had engaged in rehabilitation while incarcerated, seeking release with time served. However, Perry’s family called for the maximum sentence, with stepmother Debbie Perry stating: “Please give this heartless woman the maximum prison sentence so she won’t be able to hurt other families like ours.”
Sangha was the fifth defendant to plead guilty in the case. Two doctors, Salvador Plasencia and Mark Chavez, Perry’s assistant Kenneth Iwamasa, and acquaintance Erik Fleming also faced charges. The doctors did not supply the fatal ketamine, but a judge noted they contributed to Perry’s addiction. Sangha received the harshest sentence among the defendants.
