Tina Nash, who was blinded by her ex-boyfriend in a brutal eye-gouging attack two years ago, has reportedly been the victim of another assault by a different man. The 32-year-old from Cornwall was attacked by Shane Jenkin in April 2011, who gouged her eyes, throttled her, and broke her jaw and nose.
Roland Alli, 32, of Plymouth, appeared at Truro Magistrates' Court on Tuesday charged with common assault in connection with the alleged incident in Penzance earlier this week. Alli pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody until 25 June, with a trial date set for 12 August.
Jenkin, 34, who is 6ft 4in and weighs 17-and-a-half stone, was jailed for life last year with a minimum term of six years after admitting grievous bodily harm with intent. Nash has since written a book about her experience, titled 'Out of the Darkness', and campaigned on domestic violence issues.
In a previous interview, Nash recounted how she asked her family to 'finish me off' after the attack, fearing her blindness would mean losing her children. She said: 'When I found out I could keep my kids, that it would be discrimination if they were taken away from me, I thought: "I can do this. I don't know how I'm going to do it, but I can."'
