Sadie Flores, a 25-year-old married teacher from Graves County Middle School in Kentucky, has been arrested on a felony charge of grooming a minor. The arrest follows allegations of an improper relationship with a 14-year-old student, including secret meetings and late-night video calls.
First Arrest Under New Law
Flores is the first individual charged under Kentucky's newly enacted anti-grooming legislation, which was passed on July 15. The law allows police to intervene before a sexual assault occurs. She was taken into custody last Friday at the school.
According to legal documents obtained by the Daily Mail, Flores is accused of attempting to manipulate the teenager by expressing feelings of love and admiration. The documents state that messages reviewed by investigators were not of a legitimate purpose and were not school-related.
Investigation and Arrest
Sheriff's deputies began investigating after school officials were alerted by the boy's parents, who had discovered a series of messages across social media applications and late-night FaceTime calls. The documents also reveal that Flores and the student met in secret before a school function, which she was not directly part of but lived near.
A spokesperson for the sheriff's office said Flores was arrested around 3:30 p.m. at the Graves County Sheriff's Office. The investigation included the seizure of electronic records and interviews. Flores was transported to the Graves County Restricted Custody Center and later to an out-of-county detention center.
School Response
Graves County Schools Superintendent Matt Madding said the district was made aware of the allegation and immediately reported it to the sheriff's department. He added, "We want to assure our families that the safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority."
