A long-running parking dispute between neighbours in Newcastle ended with one woman slashing the other's car tyre. Candy Ranson, 41, reached "boiling point" and grabbed a knife after her neighbour repeatedly parked over her driveway.
The incident, on September 13, was captured on ring doorbell footage, Newcastle Magistrates' Court heard. Ranson, of Meadow Road, Lemington, admitted criminal damage, a public order offence and possession of a bladed article.
Court hears of 'revenge attack'
Clare Haswell, prosecuting, said the offences involved a bladed article and damage to a tyre. She described it as "a revenge attack on the victim."
The court was told the victim had once again parked over Ranson's drive, prompting the mum-of-two to shout abuse, grab a knife and slash the tyre.
Defence cites 'significant history'
Adrion Ions, defending, said the case had "significant history" because the victim had repeatedly parked over Ranson's drive. He said the neighbour had parked across the driveway despite available parking bays and had sent Ranson a message saying "I have parked across your drive," which he called "an element of provokation."
Mr Ions added: "Miss Ranson says she just snapped and hit boiling point. She takes full responsibility for her actions."
Ranson was fined £1,200 and ordered to pay £100 compensation for the victim's tyre.
