BBC sports presenter Gabby Logan has spoken candidly about her past infidelity and regret over not having more children, offering a rare glimpse into her personal life. The 51-year-old broadcaster, who will host the Women's Rugby World Cup final this Saturday, revealed in her 2022 autobiography that she had an affair with a German tennis player while at Durham University, despite being in a relationship with another student.
Logan said she chose to be open about her past mistakes so her children, twins Reuben and Lois, could learn from them. 'You set these kinds of standards for your kids and try and give them a great example. But actually, that's not the full picture and they didn't know me before I became a better person,' she told The Times. Her husband, former Scotland rugby star Kenny Logan, admitted the revelation was a shock to him and their children.
The couple, who married in 2001 after meeting in a Fulham bar, have been together for nearly 25 years. Logan has also spoken about her regret at not having more children, saying she always thought she would have four. Speaking on the Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast, she said: 'Just the other night I said to Kenny, when we were talking about our empty house and the future, that we should have had more children.'
She explained that having twins as their firstborn led them to delay having more children, waiting for life to return to normal. 'We were naively thinking that our old life of being more, I suppose, hedonistic and selfish was somehow going to come back,' she added. Despite this, Logan is proud of her children, both aged 20, who have followed her into the sporting world: Reuben plays rugby for Sale Sharks and Scotland U20s, while Lois is an up-and-coming showjumper.
Logan, who has been a trusted figure in sports broadcasting for nearly three decades, will present the Women's Rugby World Cup final between England and Canada at Twickenham on Saturday, which is expected to draw a sell-out crowd of 82,000.
