A young boy from Westminster is being hailed as a hero after enduring a terrifying 24-hour ordeal, locked inside a freezing cold garage with no food or water.
The eight-year-old was accidentally left behind by a family member who was clearing out the property and unknowingly locked the garage door with the child still inside.
A Mother's Worst Nightmare
The incident sparked a frantic search after the boy's mother, Lina, returned home to find him missing. Describing the moment her "world stopped," she immediately contacted the police, fearing the worst.
"I was screaming his name, running around the neighbourhood, checking with all his friends. The thought that something terrible had happened was unbearable," she recounted.
24 Hours of Fear and Cold
Meanwhile, trapped in the dark and rapidly cooling space, the young boy showed immense courage. With temperatures plummeting overnight, he huddled for warmth, too frightened to make a noise, believing he was being punished.
It wasn't until the following evening that a family member, returning to the garage, heard faint scratching and crying from inside. They immediately unlocked the door to find the terrified and shivering child.
Miraculous Recovery and a Warning to Parents
Miraculously, the boy was treated for mild hypothermia and has since made a full physical recovery. However, his mother warns that the psychological impact of the event will linger for a long time.
