Manchester City have broken their silence after reportedly being found guilty of 114 breaches of the Premier League's financial regulations. According to The Athletic, a guilty verdict has been reached on all but one of the initial 115 charges the club faced since 2023.
Club statement on ongoing process
While sanctions have not yet been decided, the club are expected to appeal the decision. A spokesperson for Manchester City gave an update regarding their state of affairs.
The spokesperson said: “The Premier League process remains ongoing, with significant elements to be completed, and subject to strict confidentiality. As such Manchester City FC’s position remains consistent with the Club’s statement of February 2023.”
Due process and next steps
The spokesperson added: “The Club has diligently respected due process for eight years on the basis that the Premier League Board and Executive would behave as an independent, impartial and fair-minded regulator, free from partisan influence.”
