A 36-year-old woman from Darwen drowned in her bath after a sponge was found blocking the plughole, an inquest has heard. Natasha Keryk was discovered dead at her home on Lynwood Avenue on October 7, 2024.
Inquest Details
An inquest held at Blackburn Town Hall on Wednesday, September 23, revealed that Keryk was employed as a secretary at the time of her death. The court was told that the cause of death was drowning, with acute alcohol intoxication listed as a contributing factor.
Keryk was found submerged in the bath, with a sponge covering the plug. Area Coroner Emma Mather delivered a narrative conclusion, stating: "Natasha Margaret Keryk died on the 7th October 2024 in her home in Darwen."
Coroner's Statement
Mather added: "Natasha was found submerged in the bath where a sponge was covering the plug and she died from drowning. At the time of her death she was acutely intoxicated. Natasha was experiencing significant challenging personal issues at the time of her death and was being supported by professionals. Her intentions cannot be determined."
Keryk had been receiving professional support while grappling with personal issues, but her intentions at the time of her death could not be ascertained.
