A 30-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman in her 50s at a property in Netherton, Merseyside. The victim was found dead at an address on St Ambrose Croft, prompting a murder investigation by Merseyside Police.
Emergency Services Respond
The North West Ambulance Service alerted officers to the scene at approximately 10am on Sunday, July 5, 2026. Police arrived to find the woman deceased, and a murder investigation was launched shortly thereafter. The arrested woman, from Netherton, remains in custody as of Monday evening.
Detective Inspector Sara Lang of Merseyside Police stated: "Our thoughts at this time are with the family of the woman who has sadly passed away. As this matter is clearly in the very early stages, we would ask people to avoid speculating and allow us to carry out our enquiries."
Forensic Examination Underway
Forensic officers were observed entering and exiting a building at the corner of a close on St Ambrose Croft, as detectives continued their inquiries. A police spokesperson said: "At this stage, the death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries remain ongoing to determine the full circumstances of what happened."
Appeal for Information
Despite the arrest, police are still appealing for anyone with information to come forward. Detective Inspector Lang added: "Although we have arrested a person in connection with the investigation, we are still appealing for anyone with information to come forward."
