A 19-year-old woman has died after reports of gunshots in Finchley, North London, prompting a major manhunt by the Metropolitan Police. Emergency services were called to a property on Dale Grove shortly after midnight on Monday, 8 June, following reports of gunfire.
Murder Investigation Underway
Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service arrived at the scene and found the woman with fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The police have informed her next of kin, who are being supported by specialist officers. No arrests have been made as detectives work to establish the circumstances of the incident.
Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo, leading the investigation, said: "Our thoughts are with the young woman’s family at this incredibly difficult time as they begin to come to terms with their loss. We understand the concern this incident will cause within the community. While our enquiries are ongoing, residents can expect to see an increased police presence over the coming days, and I encourage anyone with concerns to speak with officers."
Appeal for Information
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward. Specifically, they are seeking doorbell or dashcam footage from around midnight in or near Dale Grove. Detective Chief Inspector Bhangoo added: "If you have any information that could assist our investigation – including any doorbell or dashcam footage from around midnight in or near to Dale Grove – please contact police via 101, quoting reference 34/8JUN. You can also provide information anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
A formal identification and post-mortem examination will take place in due course. The investigation continues as police work to identify and locate the suspect.
