Two teenage boys and a man are set to stand trial next year accused of murdering Gino Robb in Byker. The case of Jed Grieve and two youths was listed at Newcastle Crown Court, where a timetable for the proceedings was established. None of the defendants were present for the hearing, but they are expected to appear in court on July 21 for a plea and trial preparation hearing. A provisional trial date has been set for January 12 next year.
Details of the Incident
Emergency services were called to Shields Road in Byker on the night of June 16 after reports that a man had been stabbed. Mr Robb sought medical assistance at the Raby pub before being taken to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary. The 25-year-old died of his injuries that same night.
Defendants Charged
Jed Grieve, 33, of Orpington Avenue, Walker, along with two boys aged 14 and 16 (who cannot be named for legal reasons), were later charged with murder. The court proceedings are ongoing, and the defendants remain in custody pending the trial.
