A 17-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder following a shooting in Birmingham that left a 16-year-old victim in critical condition. The incident occurred on Bowyer Road in the Alum Rock area on Wednesday, July 1, at approximately 5:30 PM.
Victim in Critical Condition
West Midlands Police confirmed that the 16-year-old victim was taken to hospital with gunshot wounds and remains in a critical condition as of Friday morning. Officers arrested the 17-year-old suspect shortly after the incident.
Charges and Court Appearance
The teenager has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. He was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court today. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Police Appeal for Information
Detective Inspector Francis Nock, from West Midlands Police's Major Crime Team, stated: "Our investigation is continuing and I would urge anyone who might have seen something or has dashcam or doorbell footage to get in touch. Officers will remain in the area today to offer reassurance to the local community."
