Scam Gang Sentencing Delayed to November
The sentencing of Ahsan Shahid, brother of race-hate killer Imran 'Baldy' Shahid, has been pushed back to November. Shahid, a prisoner at HMP Kilmarnock, appeared at the High Court in Glasgow on Friday, September 25. The 41-year-old admitted his role in the operation at the same court earlier this month. Sean Singh, 21, and Duncan Currie, 42, also admitted their involvement in the scheme. The scam involved telling victims their accounts were at risk of fraud, prompting them to provide personal details.
Shahid and his associates swindled thousands and purchased luxury goods. On one occasion, Shahid and Singh convinced an elderly woman they were officers from Police Scotland. The pair swindled her out of £32,750 in cash, £7,679.44 in euros and a £16,500 GMT Master II Batman Rolex. They also attempted to obtain from her £13,000 in cash, cryptocurrency to the value of £10,000, a £5144 Valcambi 100 gram gold bar and a £24,204 Metalor 500 gram gold bar.
Traveller Gang Ram Rivals in Glasgow
A traveller gang has been filmed chasing a car on a road in Glasgow and ramming their van into the vehicle. The latest clip, shared online on Wednesday, is believed to have been recorded on Knightswood Road. It is captioned: "McPhees chasing and ramming McGinleys." The footage shows a man wildly screaming "There you go, there you go, we done it, running boys" as the van chases after a black car. The van reaches dangerous speeds as it races past rows of houses in the residential area. As it nears the vehicle, a passenger can be heard shouting "hit it again, go on James."
Teens Arrested After Court Disturbance
Two teenagers have been arrested after a "disturbance" at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Thursday, September 24. A 15-year-old girl and 18-year-old woman were arrested in connection. Footage from the scene shows a significant policing response, with multiple police vehicles and officers swarming the area.
Carer Struck Off for Stealing Resident's Savings
Carer Zoe Shepherd, 29, from Cupar in Fife, has been struck off after using a vulnerable resident's bank card to steal £3,000 of her life savings. Shepherd used the card repeatedly between August and October last year. Police were called after the victim noticed a large sum of money missing from her account. A check of staff rotas at the care home in Newburgh pointed to Shepherd, and CCTV showed the card machines she used. When quizzed, Shepherd initially admitted taking the money, claiming it was in her car before saying it was in her bank account. It turned out she had spent every penny.
Driver Charged After Hospital Crash
A car crashed into a building at Monklands Hospital around 10.30am on Thursday, September 24. Police Scotland rushed to the site on Monkscourt Avenue in Airdrie. No one was hurt, but the male driver was taken to hospital to be checked over. He was later charged in connection with a driving offence. A photo from the scene shows the rear of the vehicle in the air, with the front having ploughed into the building.
