A newborn baby was discovered dead inside a bin liner that had been discarded near a park in Bobigny, France, prompting a manhunt for the person responsible.
Discovery at Parc de la Bergère
Shortly before 12:30pm today, a witness alerted police after seeing someone leave a black bin liner on a path leading to Parc de la Bergère. The witness noticed blood on the bag and upon inspection found a newborn baby inside, according to Le Parisien.
The Bobigny prosecutor's office confirmed that an investigation has been opened for "murder of a minor under 15 and concealment of a body."
Investigation and Manhunt
Authorities have launched a manhunt for the individual seen dumping the bag. Police are appealing for any additional witnesses or information that could assist in the case. The area around the park has been cordoned off as forensic teams examine the scene.
