Merseyside Police has issued an update on the murder investigation following the death of Tracy McCormack, a 55-year-old mother from Litherland, who was found dead at a block of flats on St Ambrose Croft in Netherton on Sunday, July 5. Paramedics reported the death to police at around 10am, prompting officers to attend and launch a murder investigation. The death is being treated as unexplained, and enquiries are ongoing.
Arrest and Bail
A 30-year-old woman from Netherton was arrested on suspicion of murder on Sunday. She has since been released on bail while investigations continue, the force confirmed in an update on Tuesday, July 7. A postmortem examination has yet to take place.
Family Tribute
In a tribute released through Merseyside Police, the family said: "Tracy was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Our family kindly asks for privacy during this difficult time as we grieve this devastating loss."
Police Appeal
Detective Chief Inspector Alan Nuttall said: "Our thoughts continue to be with Tracy’s family at this tragic time and they are being supported by our family liaison officers. Although we have arrested a person in connection with the investigation, we continue to appeal for anyone with information to please contact us. Any information no matter how small will assist with our enquiries."
